​The primary purpose of the Linus Pauling Middle School Library webpage is to encourage all people to read books. It is also designed to assist staff, parents, and above all, students in accessing on-line resources that may be useful for school work.  

Here are a few of those resources.

Library Online Catalogs:

  • FOLLETT DESTINY SEARCH
  • Corvallis Public Library - (to use the public library databases you need a library card number to log in.)
  • Crescent Valley HS Library  - Plenty of great links including information on copyright laws, plagiarism and how to cite sources.

Online Databases:  Ask Library Staff for passwords for home use.
  • Gale Databases - provided by OSLIS (Oregon School Library Information System).  A collection of different resources:  magazines, newspapers, ebooks,  and Learning Express Library. 
  • Grolier Online Encyclopedias - New Book of Knowledge, Grolier Multimedia and Encyclopedia Americana.  Offers students in all grade levels a variety of resources including direct links to various encyclopedias, an interactive atlas, world newspapers and dictionaries.
Additional Resources:
  • Citation Maker - an interactive tool for creating bibliographies.  This tool is provided and maintained by OSLIS (Oregon School Library Information System)
  • Multnomah County Library Homework Center - lots of links to WebPages that have been evaluated and organized by subjects.
  • LibrarySpot - free virtual library resource center.
  • ​ChroniclingAmerica -  Historic American Newspapers from the Library of Congress.
  • Library of Congress Photographs and Prints - Extraordinary collection of historic photographs from the world's largest library.
  • Indigenous People Land Map (very cool site)

Paid Membership Sites (Free to LPMS staff and students on school computers only.  Some of these sites can also be accessed on school-issued iPads at home):
  • ​Newsela in the Library - Fantastic resource for every subject and every project! Also available for individualized classrooms.​
  • Ancestry.com - Our school's membership to the world's leading genealogy research site.  Includes all of the United States Census records!
  • Fold3.com - Our school's membership to the online database of all soldiers from all American wars.
  • Newspapers.com - 3,800 newspapers from the 1700s to the 2000s.
